TED Talks

Talk about ideas worth spreading!

Inspired talks by the world's greatest thinkers and doers...

Without a user selection process this site has - somewhat unexpectedly - drawn in an astonishing amount of very representative, creative, professional and inspired people. I guess that's just how TED works.

Thank you!

One potential challange I see in this idea is that the power would be inconsistent or surging which would lead to the need for expensive controlers/regulators and battery systems. I have an idea to solve this at a lower cost that I think will produc…

A+ Dissertation Writing help and Tips

Among many students Dissertation Writing help is a famous educational word and they use that word for getting help from experts which providing their services in this Internet world. The dissertation writing assignment is one of the most intense academic experiences that educational students face in their academic career. On the contrary one of the saddest moments in the academic community takes place when educational students share the… Continue

Have the Six Degrees of Separation Evaporated? by Lance Winslow

By Lance Winslow

We have all heard of the theory of six degrees of separation where; you know someone, who happens to know someone, who knows someone else, and that person knows someone else, who knows someone and that means that you know everyone on the planet by six degrees of separation. It is an interesting theory, and it is probably true in most cases… Continue

Wide but shallow.

The generation I belong to is a lost generation. Caught between the world of the digital and the analogue.

My parents received information in a fairly linear fashion. They were taught to learn, by finding out which books to read and reading them. By realising the right questions to ask and of whom to ask them. They gained knowledge in a predictable and orderly fashion. Learing about a single subject in depth and being encouraged to specialise so that they were proficient in that subject.

My ch… Continue

Amazing TED Video about the brain

Jill Taylor's TED video about the human brain is one of the most shocking and inspiring talks I have seen, period. Perhaps the reason so many modern humans are unhappy is that schools educate the left brain at the expense of the right brain. If you are interested in this issue see http://www.Pursuit-of-Happiness.org

College Essay Vs Personal Statement

Usually colleges have their own guidelines when it comes to college essay for admission or personal statements. It depends on what the actual college requires. You should consider that the colleges look at more than just college essays for admission statements; they look at your grades, GPA, class standing, extracurricular activities, and school service before the… Continue

The Medical Fix is Not In III - Unique Solutions

This is my greatest fascination in the entire medical field, and actually mentioned in my bio. It is what we commonly refer to as the Placebo Effect. Unfortunately there is little active research due to the controversial nature of the initial experimentation. The experiment works as follows...

Day 1 through Day 3
- Induce Pain in a person
- Relieve the Pain with Morphine

Day 4
- Induce the same pain as above
- Substitute Saline for Morphine

The Saline takes the pain away just as effectively a… Continue

The Nobel "Not Bush" Award

As much as I see this as a subject I do not like to tackle, the Nobel Peace Prize has become something less than it once was. So instead of a loud Gasp like the reporters during the announcement, the 'it's not April 1st,' and many other amusing reactions, i would like to look at the process, then profile another nominee.

The Nominating Procedure includes the following:

1. Invitation Letters Sent – September 2008
2. Submission Deadline – February 2009
3. Short List Picked – February / March 200… Continue

Pursuit of Happiness

Have you seen the TED offerings on the topic of "happiness?" I like Dan Gilbert as he is trying to use the scientific method to discover what makes us happy.
This is the link to Gilbert's TED talk:

This is a link to many of the latest scientific studies on happiness, and reviews of those studies. We are trying to turn it into a multimedia site.
